Perfectly timed with the last Mercury retrograde (March 19, 2005), I had a client cancel a session
with me because after reading information on my site, she decided she wanted a "psychic"
reading. Mercury, the planet that rules/controls communication and mental analysis, retrogrades
every 3 months for 3 weeks. It's not a "bad" thing, it's simply a time when we all must review how
we communicate to others, and more importantly, what are the motivations behind our
communication. This potential client had not wanted to search for her birth time, wanted to be
talked to from a "tool" free perspective. (I had explained that astrology and tarot were tools of
Spirit/Consciousness to help me guide a client towards self-mastery and self-actualization.)
Often I think that true tool free psychic are wired up to pick up what's happening in the so-called
'music of the spheres', also known as, planets.
A reason I write to you about this client only to demonstrate the dissonance caused when a mind
wants what it believes it cannot have. The other reason: Clarity. The problem in this situation was
that this client brought three other people with her and they ruined an entire Saturday for me. (I
may have to institute a policy of taking a credit card over the phone for such indecisive ones. Oh,
that's Paul, my original given name, he's the businessman of my personal entity.) The point: we
are all psychic. We all have ESP (Extra Sensory Perception). If you were building your physical
body, you'd work out or do Vinyasa (Power) Yoga or exercise, right? The same holds true with
your "psychic" body. The more you learn the rules and order of the astral plane (the plane of
existence that you go to when you dream, waiting to reincarnate, guides, ancestors, angels 'live'
here), the more you have access to your ESP. Like the Fourteenth Amendment of the US
Constitution (one of the Emancipation/Reconstruction Amendments) that
provides for "equal opportunity" under the law, we are have the same equal opportunity to access
Spirit/Consciousness. As I am fond of saying to all you enablers and over givers: Each person is
responsible for his/her relationship to Spirit. Got it? Good?
What Is Done Through Me
These four women did not reschedule their appointment, they cancelled it. Of course, the Leo
(dramatic) side took over for several moments while I thought, "They wanted a psychic, hell, I'm
psychic, scheeh, I knew which one from their birth dates had caused the rift", "When will I learn to
trust my intuition fully?, and "When do folk even understand what astrologers, readers or psychics
do or don't do?". After I retooled my thought processes, I realized I had to explain on my website
what I do or more precisely what is done through me. Obviously, I wasn't clear enough. And, as a
Scorpion unless you're breeching my privacy, you get the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the
truth, sworn on a piece of iron (sacred to Ogun, Yoruba god of integrity and justice). Here be the
truth:
I work as an astrologer, tarot reader, intuitive and coach. I add coach as a realization of what
people need these days (or what they can safely say to others about why they utilize my
services), someone who can inspire them at their dark and not-so dark hours. Proactive is a key
theme with coaching. I realize I am somewhat of an anomaly. I work as an astrologer and tarot
reader. (I like numerology as well.) Most professionals do one or the other. They are either
capable to exceptional astrologers or they are tarot readers. (More info I have store.) Most often
those who want a "psychic" reading want the cards.
The Saturn Return and The Timing of Astrology and Tarot
I know astrological readings give some of the best timing of when to do something or to expect
someone to enter your sphere of awareness. I use the tarot cards for timing as well. I like them
both. It's like having two children with different strengths and weaknesses. You love these children
equally but you appreciate the difference. I love astrology for its linear, by the book nature; I love
tarot for its spontaneity and fluidity. Unless you are living from a reincarnational perspective, you'll
think that your chart predestined you toward some end or goal. I don't care if you came three
months early or by a C-section, your higher self/psyche born from the one Spirit/Consciousness
seeking individual expression, chose that time of birth, parents, race, orientation and other
immutable characteristics
(a.k.a. identity politics).
The first 29 years of your life according to astrology is an amalgamation of what you have to sloth
off or get rid of to do your chosen life tasks. No doubt, you've heard of the Saturn return. At that
first return of that third dimensional teaching planet with the beautiful rings (Uranus has rings too),
you get the choice to live as you've been taught and what's expected of you or go out on your own
as it were and conquer uncharted territory. That's what the road map of astrology says to
everyone who makes it to their thirtieth birthday...no exceptions. However, the gas station that I
affectionately call tarot wants to play with you, give you choices within those immutable
characteristics. Not that astrology doesn't do the same, it's just not as fluid as tarot. You can pull
another card, that I don't mind. It's the rephrasing of the question that gets the cards riled up in an
antagonistic way.
And, maybe, just maybe, these four women who messed up my Saturday, March 19, will learn
how not to antagonize their potential reader...the cards or the charts may not be interpreted in
your favor. I joke, really, I do, because as a recovering Jehovah's Witness (20 years of my life), I
read with the fervent dedication of a reverend of the most correct kind. (You remember and have
felt a reverend who genuinely loves his congregation, right?) These women may change their
minds and have this experience, and they may not. A major rule of being a reader is detachment.
If they show up, be detached; if they don't show up, be detached. Well, I see myself as this
precise kind of benevolent character.
Then, there's the lawyer with it's confidentiality as well as potentially sacrificing the status and
money. Although I define prosperity as beyond just having status and money. (Oh, I have a
comfortable life, but I know it would be easier for others, lovers and such if they could say they
were with an attorney, not an astrologer.) Finally, there's the knowledge of past and future lives.
Don't wanna be comin' back to this blue green jewel of a planet forever. Bodhisattva name of
Quan Yin or not, it'll be this personality that will wait for y'all eventual enlightenment, my
consciousness will have moved on to transcendence. In this way, I give the answers I'm charged
to give from whatever "tool" uses me. Yes, I can give a psychic read without the tools, and I have.
However, I love the stories, the images, the language of Spirit through astrology and tarot. After
all, I am an artist. Artist reunite people to their inner reality; artists manifest and use tools.
Astrology, tarot and numerology are my tools. They work for me and I work for them.
Session Anatomy
Actual One Hour Session (First One)
All sessions by phone or in person
5-10 minutes introduction on what is astrology and overview of the zodiac (a.k.a. 'circle of
animals)
15-20 minutes on Ascendent (Rising Sign), Sun and Moon Signs, chart ruler
10-20 minutes on Venus and Mars (Love and Sex Planets)
10 minutes on "What's coming up?" (Please note I think one of the least fascinating aspects of
astrology is predicting the future.)
Questions may be asked at any time.
Depending of the complexity and knowledge of your individual chart we may spend less time of
certain parts of the session and more on others.
Some schedule sessions for 90 minutes, in these sessions I almost always use the tarot cards,
children and parents are often included. Mates, lovers and potential love interests usually find
their way into a 60 minute session (or any and all sessions of whatever length).
Dynasty Sessions
I'm pleased to begin offering sessions that include ancestors, parents, grandparents, children
and mates. The cost is the same, $126/hour. The beauty of these sessions is that you get to see
the family patterns of birth, death and rebirth. The Yoruba have two words to elucidate a major
factor behind these sessions: "Babatunde" and "Iyatunde". These words mean "Father returns"
and "Mother returns". They have the belief that our family members come back to be our children
and grandchildren. This wouldn't happen every time, but how often have you seen a grandmother
and grandson have an inexplicable connection? And, each inexplicable connection would mean
that the grandfather returned, however, it may you wonder, no? Another way in which these
Dynasty Sessions help is through health challenges. Yes, your astrological chart can demonstrate
areas of challenge in the arena of health, psychological as well. Some charts show physical and
sexual abuse too.
Ideally, these sessions should be 90 minutes. A $25-50 preparation fee may be charged.
Check-Up Sessions (Session Two and Repeat Sessions)
These include the use of the tarot cards. Often I will use such predictive astrological charts such
as the Solar Return (chart of where the planets were/are on your nearest birthday to the session)
and Secondary Progressed (day for each year of birth, demonstrates your 'evolving' inner self.)
Transits measure the movement of the planets around the ecliptic. I utilize transits in all of my
sessions from introductory to dynasty to check-up. Part of my professionalism mirrors my legal
training. If I were an active attorney, I would have to take continuing legal education course to
keep my license (and my knowledge) up to date. I apply the same (if not more) vigilance to my
astrological practice. I read, read and read some more. I must know where the planets are in
order to perform my services optimally and expertly.
Coaching (Once a Month to Every Other Month)
Approximately 15% of my clientele see therapist or counselors and as well as myself. We all go
through differing amounts of evolution. I know a major goal of our souls/psyches is evolution. Our
souls will set up intense karmic lessons in order to grow. The key is to evolve and to give yourself
time to assimilate growth. Through exceptional reevaluation techniques through the knowledge of
astrology and tarot, I am able to assist others in their assimilation and more importantly the
centered application of their new realized knowledge, it's called wisdom. Through evolution
comes self-actualization. Usually you come to coaching sessions when strong Pluto, Neptune or
Uranus aspect (communicate) with your personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars,
Ascendant or chart ruler). Typically, I limit these sessions to the time prescribed by the planetary
movements or transits.
